Catoctin Creek hauls in more medals at the 2016 Beverage Testing Institute tastings.
Chicago, IL (October 6, 2016) – The 2016 Beverage Testing Institute has awarded Catoctin Creek one gold and two silver medals for their flagship single barrel whiskies.
The awards won are as follows:
- GOLD - 90 pts - Braddock Oak Rye
- SILVER - 89 pts - Roundstone Rye
- SILVER - 87 pts - Roundstone Rye "92 Proof"
Tasting notes for the Braddock Oak Rye reveal a "Golden amber color. Fruity aromas and flavors of dried fruits and tomato, toffee, leather and sandalwood, and latte with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a delightful, medium-long rye grain and flour, peppery spices, minerals, and tobacco finish. A dry, poised rye with nice gain character."
On Roundstone Rye, our flagship spirit, the BTI notes, "Golden amber color. Aromas and flavors of frosted raisin bran, caramelized nuts, spiced fruits, and putty with a silky, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a seamless, refreshing, medium-length vanilla custard, sweet and peppery spices, and rye toast finish. A round and lively rye with a spry, peppery finish."
