Falls Church, Virginia – Catoctin Creek Distilling Company co-founders, Scott and Becky Harris, have been awarded as Northern Virginia Top Innovators for 2011 by NOVAEXEC magazine and the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. The couple received their award at the Fairfax Chamber annual awards ceremony today.
"NOVAEXEC sees innovation as creation," says the magazine article highlighting the award, "Scott and Becky Harris followed in the footsteps of one of Northern Virginia's most famous innovators, George Washington, when they took up his past-time of producing spirits."
The magazine further highlights, "Catoctin Creek hit 10,000 bottles of production by the end of 2010 and their bottles were flying off the shelves. They surpassed their $100,000 revenue target for 2010 and are on track to exceed their $200,000 goal for 2011."
"It is very exciting to be singled-out in an area like Northern Virginia with such a vibrant entrepreneurial culture," says Becky Harris, President and Chief Distiller at Catoctin Creek. "We really are in the best of both worlds here in NOVA. We have access to farms and vineyards in western Loudoun and, in the rest of the region, a growing cosmopolitan market that appreciates premium spirits."
