Leesburg, Va., November 16, 2010 — Catoctin Creek Distilling Company was named second place winner for the Scalable Business Model in the second annual Loudoun Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business plan competition. Prize winnings include $750 to help start the business. The Loudoun SBDC Business Plan Competition and Awards Gala was sponsored by board member Eric Major of K2M, Inc. Presiding over the competition were Michael C. "Loudoun SBDC is thrilled to have Catoctin Creek Distilling Company as our second place winner in the scalable business category this year," said Ms. Suomi.  "When the economy is tough, that's when entrepreneurship kicks in. Scott and Becky have taken their dream, added large doses of passion, family and community, and have grown that dream into a scalable, sustainable business. Their personalities come to life through their spirits! I can't wait to see what the next 12 months brings for them!"

Speaking for the distillery, Scott Harris, founder of Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, noted, "We were thrilled and honored to be selected among the finalists.  The Loudoun SBDC is a great incubator for small businesses and is an important engine for the growth of small business in Loudoun County. There are always so many amazing companies in the competition, so it is truly an honor to be selected."
