Happy August!

Catoctin Creek in Pennsylvania!

Catoctin Creek in Pennsyvania

We are very pleased to announce Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye has been chosen by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) to be a regular "listed" item.  This means it will appear on the shelves of all the local liquor stores in the Commonwealth, including major markets in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.  We are very pleased by this, and little do most people know, but quite a lot of Pennsylvania goes into our Virginia rye whisky!  A good deal of our grain comes from farms near Lancaster (which we consider local, just a couple hours away), and our bottles are made by Anchor Hocking in Monaca, PA, supporting about 100 jobs in that area. So when you buy Catoctin Creek, you're not just supporting us here in Virginia, but our kin in Pennsylvania too!

Remember, as we said when we started in 2009, Think Global, Drink Local!

Roundstone Rye 80 Proof will be available in PA at $39.99, available this autumn.

Welcome Denise Petty!

Denise Petty at Catoctin Creek

We'd like to welcome Denise Petty to our team. Denise is joining us as a tasting room manager, and will be in charge of lots of great cocktails and customer service we're bringing to you all!  Here's a few words from her, by way of an introduction:

Hi, I'm Denise Petty, I grew up here in Loudoun County but have spent most of my life right on the edge of it, in Sterling and Purcellville. Each side of the county much different to the other but ultimately the same mindset in regards to fresh, local and artisinal products/produce. I've been in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over 10 years now and my knowledge is ever growing. My passion for gardening, the arts and of course, libations has made mixing cocktails a marvelous outlet for my creativity. I'm so fortunate to live in an area where so many artists are expressing themselves through food and drink, the inspiration is never lacking. So, cheers to you artists, keep on dreaming!

Cocktail of the Month – That Rye Nectar

That Rye Nectar

This cocktail comes to us from our new Tasting Room Manager, Denise Petty. Denise is a Loudoun County native and joined our team in July. She's a food and beverage pro, and we're so grateful to have her on our team.

1½ oz Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye
¼ oz fresh lime juice
¼ oz local honey
1 oz fresh, fine strained orange juice
3-4 drops of orange blossom water
garnish with orange peel and honey comb

Stir together fresh squeezed lime juice, local honey and Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye until honey is even throughout. Add fresh squeezed orange juice, use a fine strainer to remove all pulp and seeds. Shake vigorously with ice. Strain into glass, top with 3 to 4 drops of orange blossom water. Garnish with orange peel around honey comb.
