SPECIAL ORDERING IS OBSOLETE!
Restaurants and mixed-beverage licensees can now purchase spirits directly from the distillery!
Purcellville, Virginia (August 4, 2016) – The Virginia ABC has approved direct sales from distilleries to Virginia restaurants, bars, and other mixed-beverage licensees. This process will operate exactly the same as it does when restaurants purchase from their designated ABC stores: the spirits will be priced at the same ABC prices as in the stores, sales tax will not be charged at the sale, and the bottles will be marked with a sticker to ensure compliance with ABC rules.
"This is a great step forward!" remarked Scott Harris, founder of the distillery. "We have—for some time now—received numerous requests from restaurants, especially for our special releases, which have not been feasible to deliver through the ABC special order system. Too many times, special orders were lost, unfulfilled or rerouted, so the system just didn't work well for small-batch special releases."
Beginning this month, restaurants desiring special releases need only to contact the distillery to get what they want. A simple one-page form is filled out, and the products are delivered or picked up.
Current listed products already in the ABC system will still be available from their local ABC stores, including:
- Roundstone Rye (27030)
- Roundstone Rye "92 Proof" (27018)
- Watershed Gin (29760)
Special releases now available through direct ordering are:
- Roundstone Rye "Cask Proof" (seasonal availability)
- Rabble Rouser 4yo Straight Rye Whisky (seasonal availability)
- 1757 Virginia Brandy
- Pearousia Pear Brandy
- Short Hill Mountain Peach Brandy
- Quarter Branch Apple Brandy (seasonal availability)
- Private barrel releases (inquire for more details)
- Old Tom Watershed Gin (seasonal availability)
- Single Malt Releases (e.g. Kings Mountain, seasonal availability)
- Mosby's Spirit
Mr. Harris added, "I'd just like to thank the entire team at the Virginia ABC for listening to the growing industry of craft distillers and coming up with a solution that works great for everyone. As of today, we'll have greater selection at Virginia restaurants, more revenue for the state of Virginia, and more revenue for the craft distillers in Virginia, with very little additional cost of administration. It is truly a win-win for all involved, including the end customer desiring more variety."
